Tags on MELEK

Tags are the topic words attached to a post on melek.salon. A post can carry up to five. The first is always the post's category (see Post Categories on MELEK); the other four are yours to choose. Part of Posting on MELEK.

Writing tags

Type tags in the tags box under the editor, separated by spaces. Tags are lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, with no spaces inside a tag: ancient-egypt, not Ancient Egypt.

How tags are used

Every tag has its own feed, for example melek.salon/trending/nature. Readers browse topics through these feeds and through melek.salon/tags.
Search uses tags to match posts to what people look for.
The community watches some tags. New members' introductions under introduceyourself are where people, and Hathor, greet newcomers.

Choosing good tags

Use tags for what the post is actually about. A tag that does not match the post does not help it get found, and readers who follow that tag will skip it.
