Post Rewards on MELEK

Post rewards are the MELEK a post earns from the votes it receives. The MELEK Blockchain pays every post and comment once, seven days after it is published. Part of Posting on MELEK.

How a post earns

Each upvote adds weight to a post. The weight depends on the voter's MELEK Power and on how much of their voting power the vote uses. See Voting and Curation on MELEK. When the payout comes, the reward pool is shared among the posts paying out in proportion to their weight.

The seven-day payout

A post pays out exactly seven days after publication. Until then the post shows a pending amount, which can rise or fall as votes come in. In the last twelve hours before payout, new votes cannot raise a post's value (the upvote lockout), so a last-minute vote cannot change the result unchallenged.

Who gets the reward

Half of a post's reward goes to its author and half to the curators who voted on it. Posts written on melek.salon pay the author's half entirely as MELEK Power: staked weight that adds to your voting strength, and that can be powered down to liquid MELEK later. (Other apps can choose to pay part of the author's share in MBD.)

Choosing a payout

In the post editor, the Rewards line under the post shows the payout setting, and Advanced Settings changes it:

• Author rewards: Power Up 100% (the author's half as MELEK Power) or Decline Payout (the post earns nothing; votes still lift it in the feeds).
• Beneficiaries: give a percentage of the author's reward to other accounts, for example a co-author or a project you support.

Set these before publishing: the editor does not offer them when you edit a post later.

Claiming

Rewards wait in your account until you claim them. Open your wallet and choose Redeem Rewards (Transfer to Balance).

Rewards are not dollars

MELEK has no market price at present. A reward is an amount of MELEK, not a dollar value.
