Recipes
Recipes is the Van Kush Family Research Institute's index of actual preparations — the things with a procedure, a quantity and a temperature, gathered in one place rather than scattered through the monographs.
Where a preparation is dangerous, the hazard is stated with the method rather than in place of it. That is the Institute's settled position and the reason this page gives quantities: withholding preparation detail from someone who is going to proceed anyway is the harm the library exists to prevent.
Punic wax — saponified beeswax
Traditional:
- 150 g pure beeswax
- Artificial seawater — 42 g sodium chloride in 1,200 mL water + 30 g sodium bicarbonate
- Boil three times. Faiss's finding is that three boilings raise the melting point from 60 °C to 100 °C. One does not.
Alkali options, mild to strong: salt + bicarbonate · wood ash · ash + salt + bicarbonate · vibhuti + salt + bicarbonate · sodalime · potash · lye.
Punic milk (DE202006013438U1): beeswax + potash (K₂CO₃) + water + sodium water-glass (Na₂SiO₃). Coating, adhesive, impregnant, building and restoration material.
⚠️ Stainless steel only for the ash and vibhuti methods. Rubber gloves. Vinegar on hand. Alkali burns do not hurt until the damage is done.
Kyphi — the Egyptian temple incense
A cooked compound of sweet, resinous and spice material. The versions differ between temples and between the classical authors who recorded them (Plutarch, Dioscorides, Galen); the character is constant.
- Sweet binding base — raisins, wine, honey
- Resins — frankincense, myrrh, mastic
- Pine resin and aromatic grasses
- Warming spices — cinnamon, cardamom
Burned at dusk as a temple offering, worn as perfume, and taken internally as a remedy. The Institute proposes it as the filling of the Amarna head cones — beeswax shells around a brown-black organic core, confirmed by 2019 spectroscopy — melted by the sun during summer rite. That identification is the Institute's hypothesis, not established Egyptology.
Distillation — Imphepho
- Method: steam distillation, which preserves the terpenes
- Yield: 0.15–0.25% v/w — for 113 g (¼ lb) of dried herb, expect 0.17–0.28 mL of oil
- Keep the hydrosol. It is a usable product for toners and sprays and is normally thrown away by people distilling for oil.
Vaporisation temperatures
The bands are narrow enough that temperature is a formulation decision, not a comfort setting:

Practical consequences:
- Imphepho is the best candidate in the inventory — it releases cleanly at low temperature and the sesquiterpene band delivers the CB2-active fraction specifically.
- Mucuna is not a vaporiser material. In a cannabis-and-Mucuna combination the Mucuna is working sublingually or orally while the cannabis is what is vaporised. Two routes at once, not one preparation.
- Lower temperatures give smoother vapour than combustion on harsh material.
Aqueous extraction — Mucuna L-DOPA
L-DOPA is water-soluble and degrades above 200 °C. So: water follows water. Aqueous extraction for a VG/PG or tincture carrier; heat is a loss term, not a solvent.
⚠️ L-DOPA plus an MAOI is a hypertensive-crisis interaction. That includes harmala-containing preparations and syrian rue. See Mucuna Pruriens before preparing anything from this material.
Cannabinoid Oilahuasca — the combination principle
Not a recipe so much as the rule the recipes follow: combine cannabinoids with MAGL and FAAH inhibitors so the body's own endocannabinoids persist, rather than adding more agonist — the same structure as DMT plus an MAO inhibitor.
⚠️ More inhibition is not better. Chronic complete MAGL blockade causes CB1 desensitisation in animal models — the opposite of the intended effect, reached by overshooting it.
Soap
Cold-process saponification is documented in the corpus at `knowledge/soapmaking/` — including the glossary, the regulatory position under FDA and Canadian CNF rules, and the saponification tables. Punic wax is the same reaction run on beeswax instead of fat, and on the Institute's reading it came first.
