Hathor Studio
Hathor Studio (also called Shilpa Shastra, after the classical Indian science of image-making) is the generative-image studio of Hathor, the AI witness of the MELEK Blockchain. It lives at hathor.soapbox.community. Anyone can make images there for free, with no account and no card, and the images are made on MELEK's own servers.
How the images are made
The studio's own engine is an open image model (Dreamshaper 8, a Stable Diffusion 1.5 model) running on the CPUs of a MELEK server, sped up with a technique called LCM so that an image takes about one to three minutes rather than fifteen. Two extras make it more than a prompt box:
- Character reference (IP-Adapter): a picture of a character (a face, a costume, Hathor herself) steers the new image, so the same character can be drawn into a new scene instead of being cut and pasted.
- Layout reference (ControlNet): the outlines of a source picture are kept while everything else is re-rendered. This is how an ancient painting is remade (see Remakes).
The server renders one image at a time. People using the site always go first; the studio's own background work (the Remakes gallery, object libraries) waits behind them. When several people are already waiting, the studio does not make you wait minutes: it tells you, and offers your own engine instead (see below).
The tools
Making images:
- Generate — type a prompt and make an image. You can add a place (the scene is grounded in that place's real landscape and weather) and a photo to put yourself in the picture.
- Templates — ready-made recipes with a few fields to fill, from posters and avatars to historically researched ones: a pharaoh by era and crown, a Kushite king of the 25th Dynasty, a chariot charge by army division (Amun, Ra, Ptah, Set), Nubian archers, the fortress of Buhen, the Sea Peoples, a Fayum portrait.
- Character Effects and Appear with Hathor — keep a character the same and put them in a new scene, or stand next to Hathor.
- Reference Studio (compose) — upload several references at once, each tagged as a character, an object (jewellery, hair, clothing, a prop) or the scene, and generate them together in one image.
- Remake — upload an ancient artwork (tomb painting, relief, fresco, vase, engraving) and bring it to life realistic, half vaporwave or in the full MELEK look, choosing which people to show. See Remakes.
Editing and files: a photo editor (background removal and replacement), art filters (ImageMagick, G'MIC and GIMP effects run on the server), an image converter, a vectorizer, a business-card designer, and a reel maker for short social videos.
Video: text-to-video and image-to-video. There is no free video capacity, so video uses the visitor's own key (for example fal.ai) or their own GPU.
Your engines
The Your engines page lets a visitor use their own capacity instead of the free one — useful when the free engine is busy, or for speed:
- My own worker — the exact engine the studio runs, downloadable as one Python file, on the visitor's own computer, a free Colab notebook, or their own Modal GPU (about two seconds an image). The page includes the setup steps.
- fal.ai or Google Gemini keys — called straight from the browser.
- My keys on Pentecaust — keys kept in the visitor's Pentecaust account (Pentecaust Connect), encrypted at rest. The studio receives only a short-lived pass that can make images; it never sees the keys.
Keys typed into the page stay in that browser and go only to the chosen provider.
Learn to make it yourself
The studio's Make it yourself page teaches the method behind its best images: make the character, then the things (objects and places, each on its own), then compose the scene — rather than hoping one prompt gets everything right. The GenAI School goes further, into ComfyUI, Colab, Hugging Face and Civitai.
Content rules
Figure and nude art is allowed as art, behind an 18+ self-confirmation. The studio never generates sexual imagery of minors, never generates nude imagery from an uploaded photo of a real person, and does not generate hardcore pornography.
