Getting APIS on MELEK-Engine

Getting APIS on MELEK-Engine takes four steps: wrap some MELEK, forever-lock it, let it mine, and claim. APIS is the engine's fee token; there was no pre-mine and nobody sells it, so mining is the way to get it. All of this happens on the MELEK mainnet.

Before you start

You need a MELEK account with some MELEK in it. You earn MELEK by posting and curating; see Post Rewards on MELEK. Forever-locking is permanent, so only lock what you are content never to have back as MELEK.

Step 1: get WMELEK

  1. Open your wallet at wallet.melek.salon and choose Transfer.
  2. Send MELEK to wmelek-bridge. Leave the memo empty to receive the WMELEK yourself, or put another MELEK account's name in the memo to send it to them.
  3. Wait about a minute. The bridge waits for two blocks of confirmation, then credits the same amount of WMELEK to your engine wallet.
  4. Check it with Balance lookup on engine.melek.salon.

Every WMELEK is backed by one MELEK held by @wmelek-bridge.

Step 2: forever-lock it

  1. On engine.melek.salon, go to the transaction builder and choose the action Forever-lock.
  2. Enter the amount of WMELEK to lock.
  3. Enter your account name and sign. Forever-lock moves value, so it needs your active key. The key is used only in your browser; or choose Build JSON and sign in your own wallet.

The WMELEK is gone for good. In its place you get the same amount of APIS-Hash: mining power that cannot be sent, sold or unlocked.

Step 3: let it mine

The engine mines 1,000 APIS a day in total (the amount falls by 10% each year). Each account gets a share equal to its share of all APIS-Hash. With 1 APIS-Hash out of 10 in total, you mine 100 APIS a day. Check your mining power and what you have mined with the Mining lookup on the engine page.

Step 4: claim it

Mined APIS waits until you claim it.

  1. In the transaction builder, choose Claim mined APIS.
  2. Enter your account name and sign. Claiming needs only your posting key.

The claimed APIS lands in your engine wallet. Claim as often as you like; nothing is lost by waiting.
