SoapBox Grants

SoapBox Grants is the SoapBox ecosystem's home for discretionary funding — the surface where grants and other support to people building on or contributing to the ecosystem are described and pointed to. It is about helping worthwhile work get resourced, transparently.

What it is

Grants gathers the discretionary funding avenues in the ecosystem in one place: what kinds of contribution can be supported, and how funding decisions are approached. Discretionary means judgment-based rather than automatic — support is directed toward work that advances the ecosystem, as opposed to a fixed formula anyone can farm.

How it relates to the chain

The social chain MELEK already rewards contribution directly through posting and curation rewards; Grants is the complementary discretionary layer on top of that ordinary on-chain earning. Where the chain pays automatically for posts and votes, grants can back larger or longer efforts that a single post's rewards wouldn't cover.

How it fits

Funding is one of the founding concerns of the ecosystem, alongside chain legibility, onboarding, and the reference library. Grants is where that concern becomes a surface people can actually approach.
