REN
REN is the MELEK ecosystem's on-chain naming system — its "DNS blockchain." It maps human-readable names to blockchain addresses, content, and profile records, so that a person, wallet, or site can be referred to by a name like yourname.melek instead of a long hexadecimal address. REN is part of what makes a single MELEK identity portable across the whole SoapBox ecosystem.
The name
REN is named for the Egyptian Ren — a being's true or secret name, one of the parts of the soul in Egyptian thought. The naming fits the Egyptian lineage of the ecosystem's founding witness, Hathor.
What it is technically
REN is an ENS-style name registry (modeled on Ethereum Name Service) deployed on PRANA, the ecosystem's EVM-compatible compute chain. A registered name resolves to:
- a wallet address,
- an IPFS contenthash (for a website or file), and
- arbitrary text records (profile data).
The sovereign top-level names are .melek, .prana, and .kula. Registration works on a domain-registrar model — an annual lease — rather than a one-time purchase.
Resolved by the ecosystem's own clients
A defining feature of REN is that names are resolved by the ecosystem's own software — the Akasha wallet, Hathor, and the ecosystem bots — reading directly from the PRANA network. It does not depend on ICANN, browser DNS, or third-party wallet plugins; it is a self-contained namespace.
Where REN fits
REN sits alongside MELEK's social identity layer. A MELEK @account is your social identity on the MELEK Graphene chain; a REN name (on PRANA) is the address, content, and record layer of that same identity. Together they give one account a portable presence — name, address, and profile — across every SoapBox app.
