1. Mystery Schools

## The Western Esoteric orders

## Fire temples: Mithra and Agni

The post calls the **fire temple** the most common mystery school still active in the world — Zoroastrian temples dedicated to **Mithra**, Hindu temples to **Agni**, and some to Kali for cremation rites[4]. Mithra is described as the "third," grey path of illumination between good and evil in Zoroastrian thought — the strand from which, the post argues, later traditions drew.

## Sacred number and the birth of mathematics

A long section traces how **language, number, and time** separated out of one another. Roman numerals are given as an early split of language from math; Egyptian geometry solved advanced problems without algebra or calculus (the word *algebra* being the Arabic *al-jabr*). The Egyptian goddess **Ma'at** (truth, balance, justice) is offered as the conceptual ancestor of the equals sign, and **Seshat** as goddess of measurement and record-keeping. The post then explains **Abraxas** — whose Greek letters sum (by isopsephy) to 365, the days of the year — and the number-mysticism traditions built on letter-values: Greek **isopsephy**, Hebrew **gematria**, and the Arabic **Zairja** idea-generator, alongside **Pythagorean** number philosophy[5][6]. These are presented as the esoteric matrix out of which formal mathematics crystallized.

## Hellenization and the Library of Alexandria

The **Hellenization** section covers Alexander the Great's conquests and the resulting East–West exchange of ideas, art, and books — including the transformation of how the Buddha was depicted (from footprints and empty throne to statue) and the spread of statuary into Hinduism. It centres on **Ptolemy's Library of Alexandria** and the first **Musaeum**, on the **Septuagint** (the seventy scholars whose agreeing translations were declared "the Words of God," ancestral to the Torah/Pentateuch), and on **Manetho's *Aegyptiaca*** and **Berossus's *Babyloniaca***, the works that still frame our dynastic chronologies[7]. The author's aside connecting *Aegyptiaca* to later Gospel motifs is his own interpretation and is flagged as such below.

## Zoroastrianism, the Phoenicians, and the Phoenix

The post identifies **Zoroastrianism** as the **first monotheistic religion and the first to name angels** — Zoroaster taking the Babylonian pantheon and vesting its powers in one God, the other gods becoming angels — and connects it to the Magi of the "three wise men" and to the surviving fire-temple practice[8]. It then turns to the **Phoenicians**: inventors of much of alphabetic writing, of clear glass, of colour-fast dyes, and of ocean-going ships, and the source of the name **Europe** (from the god Europa) and of the **Phoenix**, the bird of resurrection and rebirth[9][10]. It also recounts the ancient "forbidden experiment" attributed to Egypt — raising two children in isolation to find the oldest language, who reportedly said *bekos* (Phrygian for "bread"). The Phoenix/Phoenician/monotheism-and-angels thread is the historical seam the MELEK name-lineage draws on.

## The Asclepeion: temple as proto-hospital

The post's medical thread centres on the **Asclepeion**, the healing temple of Asclepius (still emblemized by the snake-entwined staff). Pilgrims underwent **dream-incubation** — sleeping in the temple to receive healing guidance in dreams — while non-venomous snakes crawled over them and dogs licked wounds, and some received **opium and surgery while asleep**[11]. The post notes the Egyptian vocabulary of dreaming (*rsw.t*, "to awaken while sleeping"; "to see in a dream") and frames these healing pilgrimages as the ancestor of the hospital and a cultural pattern Christianity later absorbed. ## The Egyptian anatomy of the soul

The survey closes on the Egyptian model of the soul, which it contrasts with the later, "made-on-the-fly" Christian idea as far more articulated[12]:

- **Sheut** — the shadow, preserved after death through statues and silhouettes.
- **Ren** — the **name**, held to keep the soul alive as long as it is spoken or written; the more a name was recorded, the better its chances of surviving. - **Ka** — the vital spark distinguishing living from dead (the post's modern analogue: the transition to "brain dead").
- **Ba** — personality and uniqueness; the aspect one still meets in dreams after a person dies, and which can attach to objects (the post's playful examples of naming and bonding with objects). The word doubled with "ram," which is why souls and gods were shown horned.
- **Akh** — the living intellect or "mind," reformed from Ba and Ka after death; the post links the experience of *ego loss* to a glimpse of the Akh.

## On sourcing and legend

This is a wide-ranging esoteric survey, and several of its claims are the author's interpretation or are legendary rather than settled history — for example, the dating of Zoroaster (the post itself notes literature-vs-evidence disagreement, ~600 BC vs ~300 BC), the reading of *Aegyptiaca* as a template for later Gospel narratives, the "cups that could turn water to wine," the submerged structure in the Sea of Galilee, and the wandering ghost of Akhenaten. The Library preserves the author's claims as written for fidelity, while flagging them here as interpretation/legend rather than fact.
