Glossaries
Glossaries is a section of The Library of Ashurbanipal — plain-language dictionaries that define the terms you meet across the SoapBox ecosystem and the subjects the Library covers. Each glossary is a single, searchable page; new ones are added as the Library grows.
The idea is simple: you should never have to already know the words to start learning. A glossary lets a newcomer look up any term on the spot and follow it to a fuller article.
Glossaries in the Library
- Crypto Glossary — blockchain and DeFi terms: block, wallet, fork, mining, ERC-20 / PRC-20, DEX, CDP, staking, and the rest. Start here to read anything else about the chains.
- Psychedelic and Psychopharmacology Glossary — plant-medicine and harm-reduction terms: agonist, dose-response, set and setting, reagent testing, the Shulgin Rating Scale, and more. Companion to PIHKAL and TIHKAL and Cannabis.
- Spanish Glossary — a bilingual Spanish–English vocabulary reference, organized by theme (numbers, days, food, verbs, and more). The first of the Library's language glossaries.
(More glossaries are being added — further language/vocabulary, legal, and subject glossaries for the Library's other sections. This page is the index for all of them.)
How to use a glossary
- Look it up — glossaries are alphabetical; use the search box at the top of the Library to jump straight to a term.
- Follow the links — a defined term that has its own article is linked; click through when you want the depth.
- Contribute — spotted a missing or unclear term? Glossaries are living pages; adding good definitions is a way to contribute to the Library.
