Captain Tazaryach

Captain Tazaryach is a leader in the Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge (ISUPK), one of the camp-style Black Hebrew Israelite organizations, and a recognizable figure from the Great Debate / street-debate scene. He is included in Media and Personalities as a documented figure of that arena — covered critically, because the defining feature of his public message is racial supremacism, and this Library does not launder that.

Who he is

ISUPK teaches that Black, Latino, and Native American people are the true biblical Israelites, within a confrontational, camp-preaching style familiar from the street-corner Hebrew Israelite groups. Tazaryach became more widely known through combative podcast and debate appearances, including a 2021 appearance on Jesse Lee Peterson's show and a 2026 exchange with Christian podcaster Bryce Crawford that drew broad coverage.

The honest reckoning

There is a legitimate impulse buried at the root of the broader movement — the reclamation of Black identity, dignity, and a scriptural self-image after centuries of erasure, the same impulse that animates healthier parts of the Black Conscious scene. That is the only defensible kernel, and it belongs to the tradition, not to this figure's message.

Because the message itself is supremacist and dehumanizing. In the Crawford exchange Tazaryach stated that white people would not enter heaven even if they repented, that the white man "is the devil," and — while claiming the group does not advocate violence — added that "we'll hunt men" one day. The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies the extremist wing of the Hebrew Israelite movement, ISUPK among the camp groups, as hate. There is no "strong case" to be made for racial supremacy or for veiled threats of violence, and the Library makes none. We document who he is and what he actually preaches so that readers can recognize it for what it is — the same standard we apply to white-supremacist media (see SoapBox Oversight). Bigotry does not become acceptable by changing which group it targets.
